MonaLisa Touch

Mona Lisa Touch

Vaginal Dryness Is Common in Menopausal Women

Vulvo Vaginal Atrophy (VVA), thinning of the vaginal wall, often occurs after menopause when your estrogen levels decrease. This condition can often lead to painful sex, itchiness, frequent urination and infections. Some studies estimate VVA affects up to 60% of postmenopausal women, yet only 20 to 25% seek help.

A New VVA Treatment Restores Vaginal Health

If lubricants or moisturizers haven’t produced results, he may suggest using the MonaLisa Touch®, a non-invasive, therapeutic laser to restore health to the vaginal canal. It creates new collagen and blood vessels, restores moisture and elasticity to the tissue, and stimulates a healing response.

Unlike other providers without experience in laser surgery, Dr. Miller’s counseling and technique takes into account the breadth of knowledge and experience that he has amassed over many years.

Available in Italy for several years, the MonaLisa Touch® was recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The MonaLisa Touch® offers some breast cancer survivors, for whom estrogen replacement therapy is unsafe, a welcome alternative.

How does the MonaLisa Touch Work?

The MonaLisa Touch® is performed as an office procedure, takes about five minutes, and requires no anesthesia. Patients say that when the probe is inserted, it feels similar to a pap smear. But once the laser probe is inserted it releases nearly painless photon energy to the skin to stimulate collagen production.

Patients often notice an improvement in symptoms after the first treatment. Patients receive three laser sessions spaced six weeks apart and once yearly afterward. After treatment, some patients see improvement in bladder control and no longer need hormones or lubricants.
